Sailboats

MidBay Sailing owns and operates two sailboats. Through our courses, we'll use both boats. Experience on these vessels will help you translate your skills to your own boat or charter.

J/80 "Mud Bug"

Sailboats made to the J/80 one-design class specification are renowned for stability, safety, and ease of handling. The large open layout is comfortable for classes with up to four participants, providing ample room and hands-on opportunity for everyone.

"Mud Bug" is joy to handle in the conditions we commonly experience in the Choctawhatchee Bay area. It is easy to set up and take out from our slip at Bluewater Bay Marina, so that we have more time on the water to learn.

The Experience Sailing and ASA 101: Basic Keelboat Sailing courses are taught using this boat.

Beneteau 331

For the advanced sailing courses, we have a Beneteau 331 cruising sailboat. This is a common boat in the coastal Florida area, providing comfortable live-aboard features similar to those you may be looking for in your own boat.

Once you've mastered the basics with "Mud Bug", you'll be ready to try out your skills on this boat. Its just large enough to provide familiarity with bigger sailboat handling, while remaining small enough to maneuver easily.

Featuring a full kitchen, forward and aft berths, and a full head, your experience on this boat will help you determine what size and features you want for your own boat!

Specifications are available from Sailboatdata.com's Oceanis 331 (Beneteau) page.
